Jeroen Van Schependom obtained his master in engineering physics in 2011 with the highest distinction at Ghent University. He is currently a PhD FWO fellow working on cognitive impairment and deterioration in Multiple Sclerosis at the Center For Neurosciences (Vrije Universiteit Brussel) and collaborates closely with the psychology faculty at UMons (Faculté de Psychologie et des sciences de l’éducation).

His main research interest lie in the analysis of EEG signals recorded during an attentional task in an MS population. The main goal would be to link features extracted from the EEG data to neuropsychological test results.

Several methods exist for the analysis of EEG data; source reconstruction and network analyses are frequently used and will therefore be fully explored. The combination of the analysis methods and artificial intelligence are expected to yield a biomarker for cognitive impairment in MS.
