One Scientific Research position in Affective Neuroscience for 3 Year Duration or one 4 year PhD-position is available at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Department of Neuroimaging, Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, VUB, Brussels, Belgium and the Psychophysiology Lab headed by Prof. James Gross of the University of Stanford, US.
Content? The successful candidate will work on the experimental investigation of bottom-up experiential emotion regulation as a central working mechanism within experiential psychotherapy, complementary to top-down cognitive reappraisal as central working mechanism in cognitive behavioral psychotherapy. The candidate will assess the respective behavioral and neurophysiological effects.
Profile? We are looking for a highly motivated applicant. The candidate has a master’s degree in psychology, biomedical, medical sciences, or affective- and cognitive neuroscience, or related areas. He or she has a strong affinity with experimental psychopathology research, statistical knowledge, and knowledge of neuropsychophysiology measurements. Excellent English communication and writing skills are required. Methodological and statistical competence, experience with experimental research, psychophysiological methods, and/or neuroimaging techniques are vital skills for this position. The candidate will be responsible for the collection and analysis of behavioral and neuroscience data, publication and dissemination of the results.
